2007-09-07: Jake Shimabukuro in SF
Last night Stacey and I met up with Jan and Kathy at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco to watch Jake Shimabukuro's ukulele performance. It was a packed house, and he has a very good stage presence. He's been playing for 26 years, and now at age 30, he jokes that his memory and eyesight are going. I'd pay to watch him play again, so I hope he comes back to the Bay Area soon.

2007-05-20: Bay to Breakers 12K
It's been a while since I last jogged in a race, and I've slowly been getting back into a shape that isn't so roundish. Rosanna, Catheline, and I jogged the Bay to Breakers in a little over two hours. Yeah, it's my slowest time ever, but this was the first time I actually enjoyed the sights and sounds of the footrace.
With Rosanna and Catheline near the start...

The finish line...

2007-01-26: Nectar Wine Lounge Burlingame
My friend Stacey and I kicked back at Nectar Wine Lounge in Burlingame for drinks and dinner. Dinner's true highlight was loin chop, a lightly smoked kurobuta pork loin chop resting in spatzle and warm apple & cabbage salad, drizzled with calvados pan sauce... Whatever... it was basically a big piece of bacon... oh so good.
But then we had to have dessert. Below is a chocolate souffle (heavenly milk chocolate souffle topped with whipped creme fraiche showered with cacao nibs and accompanied by a chocolate tuille). What goes well with chocolate? Oh yes, port wine... :P
Our other dessert was an affogato (hot espresso poured over cardamom ice cream with a chocolate and hazelnut biscotti).
So after 3+ hours of good food and company, we called it a night. Have a great weekend, everyone!

2006-09-12: KA @ KK
Kerri, visiting from out of town, said she had never been to Krispy Kreme. A fellow fitness nut, I was surprised that I was able to get her to eat a single glazed doughnut. As for myself, I inhaled one, chomped another, and sucked down a third before calling it quits (not that I was full)...
Krispy Kreme, meet Kerri. Kerri, attack!!!
Check out the gut on her! It's an optical illusion...
Well, if I ever leave the company, I could try this place...
